Gottlieb Wallisch
Born into a family of musicians, Gottlieb Wallisch studied in Vienna, Berlin and Paris with teachers such as Heinz Medjimorec, Pascal Devoyon or Jacques Rouvier. He has won top-prizes in International Piano Competitions (The Stravinsky Awards, USA – 1st prize and „Grand Prix Ivo Pogorelich“; finalist of the Queen-Elisabeth-Competition 1999 and the Concours Clara Haskil 2005).
A concert in 1996 under the baton of Lord Yehudi Menuhin was the starting point of Gottlieb Wallisch’s international career. Since then, the Viennese musician has been performing with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Wiener Symphoniker, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Camerata Salzburg under distinguished conductors (Giuseppe Sinopoli, Sir Neville Marriner, Lawrence Foster, Dennis Russell Davies, Christopher Hogwood, Philippe Entremont) and appearing at leading festivals and in major concert-halls around the world (Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival, Klavierfestival Ruhr, Carnegie Hall New York, Wigmore Hall London, Tonhalle Zurich, Musikhalle Hamburg, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Singapore Arts Festival, December Nights Moscow,...). In the Mozart anniversary year 2006 and the Haydn anniversary year 2009 he gave a cycle of concerts in the Musikverein Vienna dedicated to the works of these composers.
As a respected artist of the Viennese piano tradition he has recently signed to the British recording company LINN records. His debut CD with this Label “Mozart in Vienna” was released in spring 2010. He currently serves as professor for piano at the Haute École de Musique Gèneve.
